Getting rid of Don Orsillo from the Red Sox broadcast is not a good idea

Reports are that NESN is getting rid of Don Orsillo because of ratings and the team’s performance. Way to go, Dan Duquette, Jr., you’ve screwed us again! (very obscure inside joke I’m sure only one person gets). I’ve always loved DO – both the way he calls the game and his relationship with Remy. The RemDawg has had some troubling years, but Don was the constant that held everything on the Red Sox broadcast together. Sure, the two of them would laugh uncontrollably sometimes about things unrelated to the game, but to be honest, I kinda enjoyed that. I am surprised though, that Don is out before Jerry. Jerry barely goes to away games, and if I’m being really real, I was hoping to see a Don Orsillo / Dennis Eckersley broadcast in the very near future.

So since hearing this news, I’ve been going through the 5 Stages of Grief:

  1. Denial
  2. Anger
  3. Bargaining
  4. Depression
  5. Acceptance

Nope, still a terrible decision. Bad form, indeed.
