My Bucket List

Another big year for my Life Bucket List, when we purchased our first home in August! We have been very happy getting it together and truly making it feel like ours. I’m really looking forward to all of the memories we will create here!

Additionally, I was somehow able to cross off four things from the list below! They were: Visit Québec, go snowmobiling, go parasailing, and run a half-marathon.

We visited Québec in mid-January, and while I’m not sure if I would recommend going at that time of year, I would highly recommend visiting at some point in your life. Freezing temperatures aside, the city was absolutely beautiful, and I am glad we visited during a time when Christmas decorations and winter activities were still in place.

A few weeks after we visited Québec, I went on a bachelor trip to Vermont, and one of the activities was snowmobiling in Stowe! To be completely honest, I was kind of nervous before getting on. Yes, my hangover was still lingering, but I also just didn’t want to crash or drive off a cliff. Luckily, the backcountry tour was very well put together with a quick lesson to start, followed by hitting the trails for almost two hours. I totally felt I got the hang of it within about 10-15 minutes. It was super cool traveling through Mount Mansfield State Forest and I’d totally do it again!

In March, we traveled to the French side of the island of St. Martin. And on March 27th, we were able to go parasailing! We opted not to on the first day we were there, and sure enough, the day after we did it, parasailing was not an available activity. So had we not done it when we did, we would not have been able to do it on that trip at all, and that totally would’ve bummed me out. It was a true reminder to always “seize the day”! I felt very secure, but also free. It was so exhilarating, even if it was only about 10 minutes!

(You cannot take your phone with you, so here are some pictures from St. Martin)

On November 2nd in Cambridge, MA, I ran my first half-marathon! Putting it into perspective, it was probably one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. I’m not only talking about the race itself; I mean the training leading up to it, battling injuries, and getting up at the crack of dawn that morning and actually running the whole thing. It’s not often we express pride in ourselves, but after I finished, I had a chance to quickly reflect on the accomplishment. You should do hard things, or at least things that really challenge you.
