Tenth Annual Boston Week!

Today marks the beginning of the Tenth Annual Boston Week here at CreativeEqual! We’ve been doing the same themed-week for 10 years now, and in no way is that depressing. Seriously though, can you believe it’s been ten years? It’s even hard for me to believe it. I honestly don’t know that in 2015, I actually pictured doing this for so long. But I’m so glad we did!

Back then, I had already started Boston Daily on both Instagram and Twitter for about a year and a half, and had been posting random things on this blog for a few months. Boston Daily was it’s own celebration of Boston, but I wanted to do more than post pictures and retweet stories/news. So I came up with doing a themed week, calling it the very original “Boston Week”. I wanted Boston Week to be a time to share cool, fun & interesting thoughts, opinions and personal stories on all things related to Boston. Truth be told, I think more than anything, is that I still wasn’t over the Marathon bombings and I wanted to write about it. I personally didn’t care if anyone read that particular post, but it had been on my mind so much, even two years later, and especially around the anniversary that I just had to write. I’m glad I did, and I’m glad others did too. In a way, I think it helped me not necessarily get over it, but learn to live with the feelings I had about the whole thing.

Those feelings, in turn, made me want to write about the things I love about Boston. But I knew I couldn’t do it alone. So I reached out to my closest friends and some family. And the first ever Boston Week was a hit! Fascinating, funny, vulnerable, prideful – all things I would call that week. I was truly blown away by the participation of all who contributed. I did know after that week that we had to do it again the following year…

Ten years later, here we are. And it’s bittersweet, because I’ve decided this will be the final Boston Week on CreativeEqual. [pause for gasps and incontrollable sobbing] Many people have asked why and some I’m sure have thought finally. But it’s just time. That’s really all I can say. Will CE continue? You bet. Will there be posts about Boston? Of course. It’s just the dedication to Boston for five days in April that will cease. I’m very happy that’s it’s gone on this long and honestly extremely proud of everyone that has been a part of it. I am really looking forward to this years Boston Week, as well as the future of CreativeEqual!

As always, be sure to check out the Boston Week tab to view all previous Boston Week posts. I hope everyone enjoys coming back each day to read more about our beloved Boston.

And enjoy these photos from the past year from @Boston_Daily!
