Remember remixes? Of course you do, because you’re awesome. They were great. And a lot of the time, the remix of a song was better than the original! For example, here are three remixes in which I strongly feel were better than the original:
- Flava In Ya Ear (Remix)
- Made You Look (Remix)
- Welcome to Atlanta (Coast 2 Coast Remix)
In these particular cases, the originals aren’t bad, in fact all three are actually pretty good, but their remix – oh baby, they’re on a whole new level. So this will start as my petition to bring back The Remix. And to kick things off, I’ve come up with three remixes to current day songs and who should be featured on each. They are as follows:
1. 3005 (Remix) – Childish Gambino ft. Lupe Fiasco and B.o.B.
These three guys have a similar sound and style. Together, I feel this would be a killer remix to an already great song. As much as it is on the radio, a remix would really revamp the popularity of not only Gambino, but the other two artists as well. Lupe is never a bad feature and it’s always great to hear a quick verse from Bob. Fellas, if you’re reading this, and I’m sure you are, the people want a 3005 Remix!
2. I (Remix) – Kendrick Lamarr ft. Ludacris, Busta Rhymes & Twista.
Kendrick is arguably the most popular rapper today. This song is great, and the sample (That Lady by The Isley Brothers) is too good. What needs to be added is three more fast-rapping guys to continue the flow that Kendrick kicks. Who better than Luda and two of the fastest spitting MC’s to ever grab a mic. Sure they’re not currently as popular as they used to be, but I honestly think it would make the song that much better.
3. Bang Bang (Ladies Night Remix) – Jessie J, Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj ft. Mya, Lil’ Kim and Missy ‘Misdemeanor’ Elliott.
This song is fire. I honestly love when multiple female artists get together to do a song. The song is just screaming for it to be a remix. Old school + new school = perfection. Mya is the perfect addition, as she is more the singer-type like Jessie and Ariana. Then we have Lil’ Kim – where do you think Nicki gets it from? Kim is the OG. Lastly we have Missy, and we know she ain’t gon’ leave wit out saying something on this track. We ain’t gon’ use her to just be singing hooks. What does she look like Patti LaBelle or somebody? She is the Queen of the Remix after all. And now this song is perfect.
