I started working on my Autumn Vibes playlist a couple years ago so that I could really have that perfect September through November list of go-to songs. The ones that make you slow down a little, while outside is rapidly changing. Some that cause you to really appreciate, embrace, and admire nature. Others that make you think of your home, your family, and your friends. Ones that invite you to do a little self-reflecting. The ones that you just want to grab a blanket and sip tea. There are so many out there that fit this vibe.
I’m not convinced my playlist is perfect, but I’m always excited to add to it. Here are a few of the highlights, but check out the full playlist on Spotify at the bottom!
3 x 5 – The Infamous Stringdusters
Really cool bluegrass cover of a John Mayer song.
The guitar, his voice, the lyrics – this has everything you want in a song for fall.
His entire style is extremely ~autumn vibes~, and I like this one a little more than Stick Season.
Homeward Bound – Simon & Garfunkel
For me, this song kind of perfectly encapsulates being on the road, or away at college, or just simply traveling for just-too-long, and all you want is to be on that last leg home.
Never Going Back Again – Fleetwood Mac
Almost everything by Fleetwood Mac fits pretty perfectly. As you’ll see in the playlist, I include 9 songs by them!
Orange Sky – Alexi Murdoch
This song totally puts me in a place where I just want to lay outside in the cool, fresh air and watch the sunset.
Tell me this doesn’t make you want to compliment the play of a star defensive lineman from your local high school team in early fall, and then watch him go on to rebuild race relations in the community.
Maybe it’s Béla Fleck on the banjo that does it for me, but this song has always given me autumn vibes.
These Are Days – 10,000 Maniacs
It just fits, okay?
What’s Been Going On – Amos Lee
Sometimes it’s not even entirely about the lyrics, but the mood overall of a song that makes it work, and this is an example of that.
